Christ's Church is full of regular people just like you. You'll see a variety of generations, races, and walks of life gathered to connect more deeply with Jesus, with other people and with God's ongoing mission to bless the world. No matter where you are spiritually - skeptical, curious about Christianity, or a committed follower of Jesus - worship points us to what we all need…Jesus.
What Should I Wear?
Most people dress casually here, ranging from business attire to jeans or shorts. Just come as you feel most comfortable!
What should I expect during worship?
While following the traditional elements of Reformed worship, you can expect the unexpected…from an artist painting to drama, liturgical dance to sign language, children involved in worship to visual displays around the current theme or series. Our music is best described as eclectic, ranging from contemporary christian to accoustical to jazz to hymnity. All of these elements come together to focus us on the central part of worship…understanding God's Word.
Dwelling in the Word
This is a practice of the congregation where we read, either privately or with others, the passage used as the basis for Sunday's worship. The ancient practice of Lectio Divino was practiced at one time by all Christians. It is a slow, contemplative praying of the Scriptures which enables the Bible, the Word of God, to become a means of union with God. The art of Lectio Divino begins with cultivating the ability to listen deeply, to hear "with the ear of our hearts". When we read the Scriptures we should try to imitate the prophet Elijah. We should allow ourselves to become women and men who are able to listen for the still, small voice of God (1 Kings 19:12); the "faint murmuring sound" which is God's word for us, God's voice touching our heart. This gentle listening is an "atunement" to the presence of God in that special part of God's creation which is the Scriptures. For more on Lectio Divino, visit www.valyermo.com/ld-art.html.

The Story
From September 2011 until May 2012, we will be participating in a church-wide Bible-study called The Story. This study will explore The Bible in 31 easy to read chapters, told in chronological order. This unique approach to The Bible means it reads more as a novel, including all of the stories, parables, and teachings we know and love while introducing us all to other parts of Scripture which might otherwise be glossed over. This church-wide program will be integrated from G.L.O.W. to Revolution, from Sunday worship to mid week small groups and LTGs. Be sure to pick up your copy of The Story at the Information Table today to join in the study!
